Byron Bay, Boat party & The World Cup…

Hey guys,

I’ve not posted for a little while, nothing too exciting going on at the moment. I’ve been settling in to my new job, that’s all going really well and I’ve just been spending my days off with friends in Fitzroy.

I have been invited to go on a four day boat party, on the River Tweed at the end of this month. The river is in New South Wales, close to the Gold Coast and Byron Bay.

We’ve hired two boats and there’s 15 people staying on them for the weekend. (I’ve seen a couple of pictures of the boats we going to be staying on, they’re yachts!! they look stunning).

The boat party is from Friday to Monday. I asked my boss for the weekend off, which he said was no problem.

The way my roster is, i’d have 3 days off either side of that weekend so I’m able to have 10 days off in a row.

So…

A couple of friends and i are flying up to the Gold Coast early, the Monday before the party. We’ll then meet up with everyone else and stay on the boats for the weekend. On the Monday the boat party ends a few of us are going to stay up in Byron for a couple more days then fly back on the Wednesday.

It’s going to be amazing! I can’t wait!

I’ll take lots of pictures and videos and keep you all in the loop..

Anyway…

I’ve obviously been all over the world cup this last week. Loving the football.

COME ON ENGLAND!!!

The games are shown live at really rubbish times over here..

The England vs Italy game wasn’t too bad, an 8.00am kick off, but the next fixture against Uraguay is a 5.00am kick off. Ouch!

I’ll be up for it!

Anyway, that’s all for now.

Love you all.

Peace
X

Melbourne victory vs Sydney FC…

Today I went to the Etihad stadium to watch Melbourne victory play Sydney FC, in the football “A league”.

The Etihad’s a really nice stadium, it’s also used for other sporting events so the lower tiers of the seating can be moved further in or out from the pitch, which is good for the atmosphere of the stadium.

Obviously as I’m living in Melbourne, I was supporting the home team..

Sydney won a dodgy penalty kick early on in the first half…

…The one and only, Alessandro del Pierro scored it. Bagging a second later in the game.

It was all downhill from there…

…We got stuffed 5-0…

In my opinion I’d say the standard and quality of the football over here would be about the equivalent to English league 1 or 2.

A really good day out though, sat in the sun watching the footy, drinking beer. Happy days!

Check out the rest of my photos of the day..

Peace…

A day off work…

I’ve finally got a day off work!

My day started with a nice, long lay-in..
I was up until 4.00am this morning, so I could listen to the football on the QPR website, we won! 2-1.

After a couple of cups of coffee this morning, I walked to the tram stop (5 minutes away) and headed to the local shopping mall. I had a little spend up, I brought myself some new clothes, boots and some other little bits and pieces. I had a lovely alfresco lunch, another couple of coffees and made my way back home.

I’ve been getting to and from work using the trams and the shopping mall I went to today is on the same tram line, about 2-3 miles in the other direction.
Where I’m based the transport links are fantastic and when I want to head in to the city, I can walk to the end of the road, into the train station, take a 10 minute train ride and I’m in the heart of Melbourne!
Which is something I’ll definitely be doing on my next days off work.

There’s heaps to see and do and I’m now itching to get out there and be a bit of a tourist.

Today’s pretty much done now and I’m settling down with a drink, just about to have something to eat.

I’m back at work tomorrow but I’ll be sure to post what I’ve been doing and what I’m planning to do.

Stay tuned…
